Lightspan has limited evidence of effectiveness in primary schools. The one Lightspan study that qualified for review showed an effect size of +0.28.
Lightspan is not designed for use with secondary students.
About Lightspan Maths
Lightspan is currently distributed by Plato Learning, Inc. under the Plato name. It is a curriculum-based technology programme for pupils aged 4-12, designed to be used in both schools and homes. In homes the programme incorporates parent training, loaning hardware (Sony PlayStations) to parents, and sending home Lightspan Adventures (learning games) with pupils.
